I bought a puppy today.

Her name is Sally, and she's a sweetheart:

She's a Cavachon - a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise. Cavachon's are bred to have easygoing temperaments, as well as being "hypoallergenic" (they shed very little). They are smaller dogs, weighing between 12 and 20 pounds when fully grown.

Alas, Sally is not for me. She is a new member of my sister's family, and is my Christmas gift to them. (Don't worry, this wasn't a surprise to them; they had researched this extensively and were anxious to get a dog.) My twin nieces (age six) call this the "best Christmas gift ever!" Even better than an iPod, apparently.

Sally is a beautiful puppy. She's 11 weeks old. We picked her up from an excellent breeder this morning, and met her mom and dad. Sally has a wonderful personality and is very friendly, expressive, and curious. She didn't bark at all.
